Fundamental issues of musculoskeletal biomechanics and its applications
In modern days, we are witnessing the wide ranges of application in biomechanics such as development of artificial joints, advanced prosthetics and rehabilitation devices. For example, development of the total hip joint has been able to help the patients to walk without pain and even participate in sports which was not possible 20 years ago. Also, persons with leg amputated due to a trauma or disease can be equipped with intelligent prosthesis or artificial limb and retain a normal gait function for the rest of their lives. It is clear that the field of biomechanics will see more growth and wider applications as the demand for the better quality of life increases in the future.
